#3 | Lou Plaia Co Founder of ReverbNation (Atlantic Records | Universal Records | Lava Records)

Lou Plaia came by Vanzig Studios for a sit down. Lou is a Suny New Paltz graduate and is known as a hustler, innovator & music pimp of the music industry.  His career began in 1987 with Polygram Records, which transitioned to Universal Records. After a few years Lou became Jason Flom’s VP in marketing in Atlantic Records & Lava Records. During this period signed Kid Rock, Stone Temple Pilots, Matchbox 20, Trans Siberian Orchestra, Jewel, Tori Amos and many more.  After Atlantic shut down Lava Lou continued his quest to develop unknown talent, but on his own terms.  Lou and 4 others created ReverbNation in 2005 to help unsigned talent.  Today ReverbNation has millions of bands signing up thousands a week and has connected these bands to main stages at premiere festivals, record labels, TV placements and so much more.

Interview: Lou dives into his background as well as tips for unsigned bands, perspective on how bands are viewed by the music industry & the single most important action if you would like to work in the music industry.

Quote: “I thought my dick was broken, I guess I’m too transparent” – Lou Plaia
